It 's been a wonderful journey full of pleasant surprises! Our journey started from the first
ski resort that you see when arriving from Milan: the famous
Bormio, a charming and picturesque mountain village, famous for its ski slopes that make it the Queen of the World Championships, with the difficult Stelvio slope, and for the relaxing spas making the resort a number one among the mountain villages. With the
Altavaltellina skipass you can ski around the area: Valdisotto-Oga, Santa Caterina and Livigno.
Our next stop was
Santa Caterina, the birthplace of Deborah Compagnoni, with great skiing and beautiful mountain huts at a height where you can drink hot chocolate in the afternoon. Very popular are the local pastry shops and the famous chocolate socket, not to be missed!
After spending the night in Bormio, where the hotel offer is wide and open to all requirements, we moved on to Livigno, and made a stop in Valdidentro to experience the slopes of
Oga - San. Colombano. The famous "White Panettone" offers very well kept tracks, much simpler than Bormio and suitable for skiing in the sunshine and tranquillity.
In the afternoon we arrive in
Livigno: one cannot help but be overwhelmed by the sparkling of this genuine mountain village: that is why it is called "Little Tibet"! In addition to the magnificent slopes, visible in their three ski areas just passing by car, there is a vibrant atmosphere, shopping stores, a large number of pubs with music, local delicacies and many events, including Art on Ice (ice sculptures outdoors), sports demonstrations and local traditions.
Each town in Valtellina has its own peculiarities and you should dedicate a week each! I love these places, so close yet so different to guarantee entertainment suitable for all needs.
