In Loreto I happened by chance: I was in Rome with my friend and we had known that the House of Pilgrims organized a trip to Loreto. Without thinking about it we had signed up and the next day we found ourselves on a bus full of cheerful old ladies and gentlemen.

On the board we got acquainted with our travel companions and so we learned that they were the schoolmates of John Paul II. What a blow!

Located between the Musone and Potenza Valleys and surrounded by sixteenth-century walls Loreto is famous above all for the house of the Sacred Nazareth family. According to popular stories, after the Muslim invasion the house was transported by angels to the Marche hills.

His pilgrimage does not end here, because the house appeared near Recanati, to end up definitively in the place where it was find it still. The story says that the relic was brought to Italy after the fall of the kingdom of the Crusaders in the Holy Land.

The interesting thing is that the studies confirm its authenticity. Who wants to believe it, who does not want to do not believe it. I am skeptical and with suspicion I look at the firms, the bones of the saints and other parts of their bodies kept in the churches, but from the tourist point of view I found Loreto interesting.

Of course, everything revolves around the Holy House, but other works of art also affect. I remember the splendid Fountain of Madonna located in the homonymous square. The beautiful shapes of Piazzale Lotto and the view that you can admire leaving any Gate in the city remain in memory. The atmosphere of the village itself is also striking, made more magical and fascinating by the presence of the city walls.

Numana — a Sicilian memory in the Marche region

In my opinion, the sea and the most beautiful beaches in Italy are located in Sicily and Sardinia. The only problem is that both islands are not really close. However, there is a solution called the Riviera del Conero.

The Conero promontory is one of the few stretches of the Adriatic where you can admire rocky cliffs that descend overlooking the sea. The clear sea has that incredible greenish blue color and surrounds the beaches of fine and golden renella. In this environment is Numana, one of the most beautiful resorts on the coast.

Until a few years ago Numana was a fishing town. Today it has transformed into a holiday place while maintaining, fortunately, the balance between the ancient and modern.

The town is divided into two parts: Numana Alta and Numana Bassa. The upper part extends on the slope of a hill and preserves the historic center of the town: white houses, the narrow alleys of the “Tower” area, the episcopal palace, today the seat of the Town Hall and the modern church that holds the crucifix.

A few steps after the church are the gardens of Numana: a green area where the paths hide beautiful views. From here you can see the port and the promontory of the Conero.

In Numana Alta there is also the Costarella, one of the two symbols of the town. It is the ancient alley, consisting of a staircase from which the fishermen descended towards the sea. Numana Bassa is the most modern part with the marina. Here are various bathing establishments, equipped beaches dotted with umbrellas and sun loungers.

From the port of Numana, ferries leave for the symbolic beach of the Riviera del Conero: the beach of the Two Sisters. Large amphitheatre beach under the white and gray cliff, it is covered at times by broom bushes and by the green slits. There are no other beaches: Spiaggia dei Gabbiani, Spiaggia Gigli, Spiaggia Urbani, Spiaggia di San Michele — Sassi Neri...

In Italy there are many thermal sources, or sources of water with beneficial effects on health, near which care centers have arisen. In fact, there are waters that can help in solving various problems, not only for the musculoskeletal system but also the respiratory, or digestive system.

Among them, in the Marche Region, and more precisely in the province of Fermo, there is a source of purification water known already in the times of the ancient Romans, who came to this area to perform wellness treatments. This is the Palmense Hydropinico Plant, located near the town of Torre di Palme. Torre di Palme is, in fact, an ancient Roman settlement that today stands out above all for its medieval layout. The waters of this source were therefore already used in Roman times, as evidenced by some remains of the time that were rediscovered during the remittance work according to the plant . It is a fountain and two tunnels that used to convey the liquid.

The source was then rediscovered only recently, in 1930, and again valued twenty years later, returning to full activity in the fifties later the analyses carried out to verify the actual beneficial virtues of the waters themselves. The particular water that flows from the springs that are located about two kilometers from the old casement is defined as “average mineral alkaline bicarbonate”: in essence, it has properties amp; agrave; which makes it suitable for treating digestive disorders, liver and kidney disorders.

It flows at a temperature of about 16 degrees, should be drunk very slowly on an empty stomach, as a general indication. But, of course, a series of specific and thoughtful treatments can be used in the adjoining plant. The set of treatments to which one can undergo are called “dropinics “, that is, which are based on the intake of mineral waters. They are of three types mainly: those that serve to stimulate the digestive system, those useful for renal replacement and those useful for cleaning the liver. The pathologies that can be treated are gastritis, dyspepsia, diabetes and obesity, but also hypertension and cystitis.

Obviously, a specialized medical staff works inside the plant, who follow patients at every stage of the treatment. Other treatments that are guaranteed by the establishment are therapeutic baths and whirlpools; moreover inhalations, nasal showers, aerosols and nebulizations, and finally nasal and vaginal irrigations. The establishment is open from June to September, a period in which you can book the desired care. Reaching it is very simple: taking the A14 Bologna-Taranto, you have to take the Fermo-Porto San Giorgio exit and then the Adriatica State Road number 16; if you prefer the train, you have to get off at the Porto San Giorgio-Fermo stop.

The thermal baths are about 12 km away from Fermo, and 5 km from Porto San Giorgio. These centers are also worth visiting, in the case of a stay: Fermo for its historical and artistic qualities, and Porto San Giorgio as a seaside tourist resort.

Going down the hills of the Conero, the splendid Riviera opens to sight. Starting from Ancona, to Porto Recanati, passing through Numana with its pristine beaches. Sirolo, to whose municipality belongs to the Sassi Neri beach, is elegant and mysterious in its structure of alleys and in its peak position. Just outside its center you come across beaches rich in bays such as the beach of the Two Sisters, so called for the two great twin rocks that rise from the sea, San Michele with the spectacular falls of rocks, up to the Spiaggia della Vela, so called for the sail rock that faces its final part. The Conero can be easily reached by car. The reference motorway is the A14 Bologna- Ancona-Taranto exit Ancona Sud towards Riviera del Conero. The Riviera is served by the Milan-Lecce railway line and, to reach places that are not equipped with railway stations such as Portonovo, Sirolo, Numana and Marcelli, you need to get off at Ancona or Porto Recanati station. From here there are frequent bus connections or continuous taxi services. The Conero area as a whole is served by many buses that allow journeys, especially daytime in the territory, at low cost and with continuous and comfortable hours at the traveler.
