Numana — a Sicilian memory in the Marche region

In my opinion, the sea and the most beautiful beaches in Italy are located in Sicily and Sardinia. The only problem is that both islands are not really close. However, there is a solution called the Riviera del Conero.

The Conero promontory is one of the few stretches of the Adriatic where you can admire rocky cliffs that descend overlooking the sea. The clear sea has that incredible greenish blue color and surrounds the beaches of fine and golden renella. In this environment is Numana, one of the most beautiful resorts on the coast.

Until a few years ago Numana was a fishing town. Today it has transformed into a holiday place while maintaining, fortunately, the balance between the ancient and modern.

The town is divided into two parts: Numana Alta and Numana Bassa. The upper part extends on the slope of a hill and preserves the historic center of the town: white houses, the narrow alleys of the “Tower” area, the episcopal palace, today the seat of the Town Hall and the modern church that holds the crucifix.

A few steps after the church are the gardens of Numana: a green area where the paths hide beautiful views. From here you can see the port and the promontory of the Conero.

In Numana Alta there is also the Costarella, one of the two symbols of the town. It is the ancient alley, consisting of a staircase from which the fishermen descended towards the sea. Numana Bassa is the most modern part with the marina. Here are various bathing establishments, equipped beaches dotted with umbrellas and sun loungers.

From the port of Numana, ferries leave for the symbolic beach of the Riviera del Conero: the beach of the Two Sisters. Large amphitheatre beach under the white and gray cliff, it is covered at times by broom bushes and by the green slits.
