In Italy there are many thermal sources, or sources of water with beneficial effects on health, near which care centers have arisen. In fact, there are waters that can help in solving various problems, not only for the musculoskeletal system but also the respiratory, or digestive system.

Among them, in the Marche Region, and more precisely in the province of Fermo, there is a source of purification water known already in the times of the ancient Romans, who came to this area to perform wellness treatments. This is the Palmense Hydropinico Plant, located near the town of Torre di Palme. Torre di Palme is, in fact, an ancient Roman settlement that today stands out above all for its medieval layout. The waters of this source were therefore already used in Roman times, as evidenced by some remains of the time that were rediscovered during the remittance work according to the plant . It is a fountain and two tunnels that used to convey the liquid.

The source was then rediscovered only recently, in 1930, and again valued twenty years later, returning to full activity in the fifties later the analyses carried out to verify the actual beneficial virtues of the waters themselves. The particular water that flows from the springs that are located about two kilometers from the old casement is defined as “average mineral alkaline bicarbonate”: in essence, it has properties amp; agrave; which makes it suitable for treating digestive disorders, liver and kidney disorders.

It flows at a temperature of about 16 degrees, should be drunk very slowly on an empty stomach, as a general indication. But, of course, a series of specific and thoughtful treatments can be used in the adjoining plant. The set of treatments to which one can undergo are called “dropinics “, that is, which are based on the intake of mineral waters. They are of three types mainly: those that serve to stimulate the digestive system, those useful for renal replacement and those useful for cleaning the liver. The pathologies that can be treated are gastritis, dyspepsia, diabetes and obesity, but also hypertension and cystitis.

Obviously, a specialized medical staff works inside the plant, who follow patients at every stage of the treatment. Other treatments that are guaranteed by the establishment are therapeutic baths and whirlpools; moreover inhalations, nasal showers, aerosols and nebulizations, and finally nasal and vaginal irrigations.

The establishment is open from June to September, a period in which you can book the desired care. Reaching it is very simple: taking the A14 Bologna-Taranto, you have to take the Fermo-Porto San Giorgio exit and then the Adriatica State Road number 16; if you prefer the train, you have to get off at the Porto San Giorgio-Fermo stop.

The thermal baths are about 12 km away from Fermo, and 5 km from Porto San Giorgio. These centers are also worth visiting, in the case of a stay: Fermo for its historical and artistic qualities, and Porto San Giorgio as a seaside tourist resort.
