In the heart of the Langhe in Piedmont, in the province of Cuneo is Serralunga d'Alba, a small town of about 500 inhabitants. The medieval castle is worth visiting in the village. The silhouette of the castle is unusual: narrow and tall, thanks to the position on a hill it seems even higher. Since 2007 this' Donjon 'has been part of the circuit of the 8 castles known as Castelli Doc, and of another circuit, 'Open Castles' of Lower Piedmont.

To feel the air of Serralunga and Langhe go to the Forest of Silence, located inside the estate of Fontanafredda. A century and a half ago the farm was created by King Victor Emmanuel II who gave it to his most famous lover, Rosa Vercellana, the Bela Rosin. At that time, the Langhe landscape was dominated by forests, but this state of affairs changed after the success of Barolo, of which it is note the area. So the forest of the estate is the last real forest of Bassa Langa, the only one who has saved itself from the invasion of the lives.

The present owner of the farm gave the opportunity to admire it by drawing a path consisting of twelve stages. Each one is dedicated to a theme and accompanied by signs with quotes from various poets including Leopardi, Baudelaire, Fenoglio, Pavese and Whitman.

In this area of truffles and excellent wines and cheeses, events related to flavors cannot be missed. On the third Sunday of June Serralunga comes alive for the event “Tustar for Vineyards” and in September for the Harvest Festival. Another important and interesting food and wine event is BITEG, the International Food and Wine Tourism Exchange, which takes place in May.
