I am not a connoisseur of wine: I can only say if I like wine or not. However, the Erbaluce di Caluso beats all the whites I had drank so far. For Erbaluce I betrayed Prosecco.

One day in August, when everyone is at the beach, my sweet destination and I went to see Venaria Reale. On the way back, having still time and being in the area famous for wine production, we decided to take advantage of it and buy some bottles. Do you think it was easy? Not so much: we were not prepared and, without having the addresses, we did our research blindly. We decided to follow the signs of the wine route thinking that somewhere on the road we finally find a local wine producer.

The best known wines in this area are Erbaluce and Carema, respectively white and red. My boyfriend was interested in Erbaluce so we went directly to Caluso, a wine center famous for the production of Doc wines Erbaluce di Caluso and Passito. We immediately found the Regional Wine Shop of the Province of Turin which, being the first half of August, was closed. We therefore resumed our pilgrimage following the indications of the wine route, unfortunately with little result. After an hour, spent twice through Candia and near its beautiful lake, we finally saw a sign from the producer of Erbaluce. The company was closed, but we called on the cell phone and, luckily, the manufacturer was nearby.

I must say we were lucky. Not only because we found a great wine, but also because the producer turned out to be a very interesting person. Young, in his 30 years old, he is a producer who puts his heart into his work. He showed us his cellar and taste the wines he produces, and he told us many interesting things about wine production and the problems that are related to it. Yes, we have a romantic vision, but living vineyards and wine is not easy at all. Especially when the brand or manufacturer is not known. He himself, he said, if his family didn't have a restaurant, he would have trouble selling wine
