Culatello di Zibello
For fine and genuine food and wine lovers Zibello is surely a particularly suitable place. The town is in fact the "capital" of the production area of the famous Culatello Zibello, a renowned and celebrated ham.
Zibello is a particularly wealth and foggy land that lies along the great river Po, which is a determining factor, irreplaceable climate regime for the maturing and aging of the King of Meats, whose art, handed down through generations , contains the story of a land, the traditions of its people and the characteristics of the particular climate.
Zibello has roads that allow easy access, not far away cities such as Cremona, Parma and Piacenza. Awarded the title of City of Art, is included in the circuit "Slow City" and "City of Tastes".
The town also offers many artistic and historical curiosities to visit: from the Palazzo Pallavicini, undisputed symbol of the village, with the theatre, a short distance away is the magnificent Parish Church of San Gervasio and Protasio, among the most famous monuments of the diocese of Fidenza, rich in works of art and featuring a large interior with three naves. From here you can reach the former Convent of Dominicans characterized by the cloister recently arranged and embellished with an interesting cycle of frescoes inspired by the life and miracles of St. Dominic.
Every second Sunday of the month, from 5 to 8 pm, from April to October, the Pro Loco organizes "snacks" made with local produce in the cloister of the former Convent of the Dominicans. A visit to Zibello is recommended in all seasons of the year. In particular, from March to October for those who want to go also to the discovery of monuments and the nature, and during the winter, for those who prefer simply a "blowout" of local products.
