Cascata delle Marmore

It is one of the highest waterfalls in Europe, having a total difference in altitude of 165m. It is called this because of the calcium salts present on the rocks that resemble white marble. There is also a legend about this waterfall: a nymph named Nera fell in love with a shepherd named Velino. Juno, jealous of love, turned the nymph into a river. Then Velino, in order not to lose his beloved, threw himself from the cliff of Marmore. This jump, destined to repeat itself for eternity, is now replicated in the Marmore waterfall.
