Brisighella, a village to discover

Brisighella is a beautiful medieval village in the province of Ravenna.
The most important buildings were built on three rocky peaks and dominate the landscape.


The Fortress is the oldest construction on the first tip. The complex, recently restored, includes the Torricino of the '300 and the Venetian Tower of the '600. The Fortress houses the Museum of Peasant Civilization.
On the second summit the Clock Tower is proud. The current tower was built in 1850 and inside is the Museum of Time.


The Sanctuary of Monticino of the '800 is located on the third rock and offers a spectacular view of the village and the valley.
In the village the Via degli Donkeys flows, a very special route. It is an ancient elevated and covered street that passes between the houses. It was built as a defense of the inhabited part of Brisighella but used later as a passage for the donkeys and mules that tras carried the plaster of the neighboring quarries.
The owners lived above and the animals slept in the stables in front of the arches.


Outside the village, in the direction of Florence, is the Pieve del Tho. This ancient church was built in the 9th century. Like all very old religious temples, it breathes a deep serenity that invites the visitor to calm and tranquility.


Brisighella is also known for its thermal baths and its medieval festivals. Since 1980 every year in June, medieval themed festivals are celebrated that involve the whole population.

National and international groups, bands and artists participate and the village returns to the Middle Ages. Exhibitions, events and lunches in the open air: very nice to see and fun to participate.
