Churches and places of worship Collegiata di San Giovanni Battista This church was built in 1739 on a project by the Onegliese architect Gaetano Amoretti on the remains of an ancient church. The construction was completed in 1759 and a typical Baroque Genoese style was used as demonstrated by the Latin cross plan with three naves with a dome. It was recently restored to complete damaged parts.
Churches and places of worship Monastero e Logge di Santa Chiara The ancient Lodges of Santa Chiara and the Convent of the Poor Clares are located in Imperia. From the building we can admire a beautiful view near the sea. The building was built in 1712 by the architect Gregorio Ferrari. Today they are places much visited by religious people and beyond.
Churches and places of worship Oratorio di San Pietro We find the Oratory of San Pietro in Imperia. The building is very old and is in Baroque style. It was built by the architect Semeria, while the facade was designed by Giovanni Bossetti. The inside of the oratory is rectangular in shape.
Churches and places of worship Oratorio di Santa Croce Oratory of Santa Croce was built in 1690 by Marco Aicardi, and is the home of the Brotherhood of SS. Trinity. It was built to free the Christian prisoners in possession of the Turks. On the ground floor there are false arches, which are reminiscent of those of the main colonnade. At the rear is the triangular bell tower, surrounded by a characteristic seventeenth-century tip. Inside it we find erratic sculptures, such as the Pila dell'Acqua Santa, and several illuministic frescoes.
Churches and places of worship Oratorio di San Leonardo The Oratory of San Leonardo, also known as the Oratory of Santa Caterina, dates back to the seventeenth century. After a significant restoration especially outside, the church returned to being a historic center of Porto Maurizio and an element of great importance of the historical and archaeological heritage of Imperia. In the church you can admire the best paintings by Gregorio Ferrari of Porto Maurizio: the Death of San Giuseppe by Sebastiano Conca; the Sorrows and the purgant souls; the statue of San Domenico and a chapel inside which you can find a small museum with the artifact of the Saint.
