Everyone knows who Leonardo da Vinci is, but they often ignore that Vinci is a town that still exists. Vinci is located on the hills of Montalbano, in the heart of Tuscany and 10 km from Empoli. They also divide it a few kilometers from major cities of art such as Florence, Pisa, Lucca and Siena.
Vinci is a small village with medieval houses and buildings, grouped around the Rocca dei Conti Guidi. It is logical that having given the world the famous character all around him: and therefore all the places in Vinci are linked to the famous painter and inventor. So the fortress houses the Leonardian Museum where you can see the fantastic inventions and war machines made on Leonardo's designs and with his manuscript annotations. Here is also the library that owns, among other things, the facsimile reproduction of all Leonardo's manuscripts and drawings.
Visiting Vinci you can of course not miss Leonardo's birthplace, about two km from the center and to which leads the path immersed in the greenery of the beautiful Tuscan landscapes.
