Marciana Marina is one of the most important towns on the island of Elba, off the Tuscan coast and part of Livorno province.

Its sea front and promenade have remained unspoiled, retaining their 18th century Tuscan architecture and atmosphere, and the old town is considered among the most beautiful in Italy. Its reputation means that it's quite pricey, but bargains can be had such as buying fresh fish direct from the fishermen in the port, or sampling the local Elban wine sold near the yachting club.

The town boasts two small beaches in addition to the picturesque marina, and there is also an impressive 16th century fortification guarding the harbour entrance. Aside from the busy marina popular with well-heeled yachters, the main activities in Marciana Marina involve sunbathing, snorkelling in the rocky coves, and windsurfing.

The newer parts of the town are more developed if not as pretty, with all modern services available. Lovers of Italian food will be well served, with over 30 restaurants to choose from in a town of only 2,000 permanent inhabitants.
