If you are thinking about your next holidays and you would like to visit a warm and beautiful country like Italy, but you would like to visit an area that isn't packed with tourists yet has a lot to offer to whoever decides to visit it, I might have the perfect place for you.
This little town in the province of Grosseto, in the amazing region of Tuscany, only has about nine thousand inhabitants, so if you want a quiet place to spend some days on your next holidays this is the ideal place to find some peace of mind while seeing beautiful things. Simply walking around the town of Gavorrano will be an extremely exciting experience that will make you feel as if you had just been catapulted back to centuries ago. Why do I say that? Because between some of the streets of Gavorrano, you will come across pieces of the wall which used to protect the village back in the 12th century. In fact, many parts of the village will make you believe you are living in the medieval age thanks to all the buildings which were built in that style.
Also walking around Gavorrano you will come across the Palazzo del Comune, which was built in 1822 and which was reconstructed in 1984. Although sometimes it's closed to the public, you will still be able to admire its gorgeous classical facade. And if you are a big fan of theater, don't miss out on the chance to see the Teatro delle Rocce, a theater made entirely with rocks and which is in the open air.
As you must have imagined, Gavorrano, being an Italian town, has a few gorgeous churches that you could pay a visit to. One of them is the San Giuliano church, which is believed to have been built using the walls of an old rock. This church was built around the 17th century to replace an old church which was located in the same place and is the most popular church in the town of Gavorrano. Then there is also the Castello di Pietra which is, as you must have understood from the name, a castle made of stone. It was built in the 14th century which makes it one of the most important and ancient buildings in the whole region and which is still being studied today since there have been many remainings from different eras being found even in the present. Although you won't be able to visit the inside of the castle, you will be able to visit a small museum right next to it where you will get the chance to see some of the items that have been discovered there. Definitely worth a visit.
But if you are traveling to Gavorrano in the summer, I'm sure you will be happy to know there is a beach there which is perfect if you want to relax under the warm Italian sun after going for a swim in the crystalline waters of the Rocchette beach, which is as quiet and as unspoilt as it could possibly be and which will make your visit to Gavorrano that little bit more special.
