The Villa Lappeggi is located in a hamlet of Bagno a Ripoli. Also called Appeggio or La Peggio, it takes its name from the ridge of the hill on which it stands. It was formerly the residence of the Bardi family, which after several changes of ownership was sold to Prince Francesco de 'Medici in 1569. Its position was really nice: close to the city, but surrounded by countryside.

Around 1700 this fortress was the home of the well-known musician Giacomo Puccini.

Towards 1550, the Castle was transformed and expanded by the architect Domenico di Baccio d'Agnolo.
