The city of Savoca is located on a high hill north of the coast of Taormina from which you can see a view from take your breath away with the sea of Sicily so enchanting on one side and the rich and unspoiled nature typical of this region on the other side.

Founded in the twelfth century by the Normans, the city of Savoca has however at its top of the remains of Arab walls, dating back to an even more time ; ugrave; ancient of its foundations and about in the 9th century.
Savoca, since 2008 is among the most beautiful villages in Italy, despite being a small town, it is rich in 15th century churches as well as ; egrave; famous because it has a crypt in the church of the convent where the embalmed corpses of the notables of the country dating back to the secc are kept and exposed. XVIII and XIX.

Located in a wonderful panoramic position and built in the fifteenth century, I start my visit with the church of San Nicolò, made even more & rsquo; famous for being the scene of some scenes from the film The Godfather by Francis Ford Coppola. The church with a characteristic crenellated style that makes it look like a fortress, is also called the church of Santa Lucia, since inside it is preserved the precious simulacrum silvery as well as the wooden statue of the Syracuse martyr.
Built by the Normans in the twelfth century, the Mother Church, has inside a crypt where in the past centuries the mummification of the corpses of the notables of the country was proceeded, place of an unreal suggestion, it left me an indelible memory in my soul.
