Stintino in Sardinia, Italy has a history that goes back to 1885 when it was a fishing village.

The village developed in two inlets with two harbours, the old port called Minori and a bigger and newer one called Mannu.

Today, Stintino has the same its picturesque, historical look and feel. The views are as great as they were across the protected island of Asinara whose beauty remains untouched and unspoiled. Stintino arguably has the best beaches in Sardina or at least in the northern coast.

The best one is Pelosa beach which draws the largest crowds with its aqua waters glittering in the sun and the fine, white beaches. The Mediterranean underbrush on the beaches that are also in the sea are also striking.

Its proximity to the Tower of Piana Island is also an attraction. Also lovely are the beaches of Puzzona, Saline and Ezzi Mannu. The National Park of Asinara is also close by and it is easily reached from the Porto Nuovo.

The museum Tonnara which is located at the new port is also a great place to visit. There is always something going on in Stintino in the way of events organized for visitors.

One of the biggest is the annual Latin sail boat race held at the end of August dubbed [i]Regata della vela latina[/i]. There's also the rural feast of St. Isidore in May and The Tuna Fest or Sagra del Tonno in June. If you are there in September, attend the Blessed Virgin of Didesa event and the feast of St. Nicholas.

You can also lounge around the beach, hiking, play tennis, or dip into the ocean to enjoy water sports like sailing, windsurfing and when night falls, you can step out to enjoy the nightlife.
