Exploring Arzachena and the Costa Smeralda

Arzachena is a local market town situated in the Sardinia province of Olbia-Tempio in the north east of the island.

The town is part of the mountain community Riviera di Gallura and lies close to port towns and beach resorts of Cannigione, Abbiadori and Porto Cervo.

The latter is the main resort of the Costa Smeralda famed for crystal waters and an upmarket atmosphere.

The quay is lined with cafes, bars and restaurants, designer boutiques and the harbour filled with luxury yachts during summer months.

Sardinia is the perfect place to visit all year round with hot Mediterranean summer months and a temperate winter season.

During summer months the island hosts top sporting events, from golf tournaments to sailing regattas.

If you have an interest in local history, there are many hidden places of interest to visit such as the Temple of Malchittu, and the Necropolis of Li Muri which are situated close by.

A mere 15 minute drive from Arzachena is the port of Palau, you can catch a ferry or hire your own boat and sail to Isola Santo Stefano, Caprera and Isola Maddalena, an archipelago of national park protected islands.

The islands, renowned for lush landscapes, ancient towns and pretty ports surrounded by turquoise blue waters are filled with an abundance of marine life and have a natural, unspoiled beauty which shouldn’t be missed.
