Castello di Parella

The Castle of Parella dates back to the 13th century. Inside there are rooms decorated with important frescoes representing historical-mythological themes. Currently, the Castle houses a small private museum.

Pavone Canavese (7 Km)

Castello di Pavone

The Castle of Pavone Canavese was built in the 9th century. He underwent several restorations by the architect Alfredo d'Andrade. In 1981 the building was declared a national monument. In its rooms today there are a hotel and a restaurant.

The Episcopal Castle is an ancient castle built on the ruins of an ancient villa from Roman times. Thanks to the Princes of Acaja, he returned to being bishopric property. It was rebuilt entirely in 1361. The castle was destroyed once again during the civil war. In 1641, interventions were made that gave the building its current appearance.

The bell tower of Azeglio dates back to 1787, in the same year the parish of San Martino was built. Designed by engineer Filippo Castelli in 1783. Today we find only an immense bell tower. It stands in the municipality of Azeglio, in the province of Turin, and is located in Piazza Massimo d'Azeglio. The building has historical and architectural value. It is in Baroque Rococo style, with a large neoclassical façade. It is currently open to the public.

Borgomasino (19 Km)

The first testimonies about this castle, which takes its name from the municipality in which it is located, have already been seen since the eleventh century. It was built at the behest of Guido, Count of Pombia. The current structure dates back to a renovation of 1870, as the original was damaged by a collapse. Its construction dates back to the late Roman period. In the 16th century, the castle underwent changes. Between the 17th and 18th centuries, the Counts of Biandrate turned the building into a stately home. The salons are decorated with frescoes and emblems. Since 1885, the Castle has been home to the Town Hall of Foglizzo.

Santuario di Sant'Antonio Abate

Today the Sanctuary of Sant'Antonio Abate is located on a pleasant and quiet hill on the shores of Lake Viverone. Dating back to the twelfth century, it was located on the Via Francigena “Romea” and hospice for the pilgrims who went to Rome. It was of great importance throughout the Middle Ages so much that it was mentioned in many documents of the time. Recently restored and in good condition, ancient frescoes are visible inside the church.
