In the evocative setting of the medieval Romagnano Sesia every two years the “Passion of Christ” takes place in front of the public ". The show that has been repeated here for centuries is a real cultural heritage.

At Easter, in many Christian countries there are representations that portray the last days of the life of Jesus Christ. I, even though I always wanted it, had never participated in a demonstration of this type until we passed through Romagnano Sesia.

Our goal was not the town, in which I had already been there a few times, but rather the shopping center where we wanted to go shopping. The road we normally took was closed due to the performance of Good Friday and so we learned about the existence of this event.

The performance of Good Friday takes place in Romagnano Sesia since 1730. At first it was on an annual basis; in the 1960s it took on a two-year basis and is re-proposed every other year in the odd years. More than three hundred “actors” participate in the period costumes that interpret the characters of the Passion.

Everything is structured in 14 'paintings' located along the streets and squares of the city that turn it into a kind of outdoor stage . And as in all theaters, you also pay for the ticket, but the cost is really not high.

We attended the event on Saturday and saw the XII, XIII and XIV painting, but in my opinion it would have been more interesting to see the paintings on Friday that & ; egrave; Pilate's judgment, Peter's denial, the painful way to Calvary. Well, this year is not possible and so we'll definitely see it next year when the 256th edition of the story takes place.
