The Piantonetto valley, which from the Orco Valley creeps north towards the tormented glaciers of the Gran Paradiso massif, is characterized by its grandiose and severe environment, without the comfortable “real hunting mule tracks” of many other valleys of the National Park.

The Pontese Hut, built in the 1960s by the Alpinistic Club of Pont Canavese, is easily accessible thanks to the service road of the basin artificial by Teleccio (or Telessio), which allows you to arrive by car to the dam, located at the considerable altitude of 1917 meters.
The basin of the hut, which has 60 beds, lends itself to exciting excursions in an environment of great charm, but also and above all to challenging mountaineering climbs. Among other things, the dizzying rocky walls that surround and dominate the refuge have been 'rediscovered' by modern free-climbers, creating streets of great commitment. There is also a rock gym called Scoglio di Mroz nearby.

Reached the Municipality of Locana and the subsequent hamlet Rosone in the Orco Valley (66 kilometers from Turin), we abandon the valley floor to take the road that, with another 14 kilometers of spectacular climb, mostly unpaved, leads to the powerful dam of the artificial lake of Teleccio, at 1917 meters of share. The barrier, built in the late 1950s by AEM Turin, created an invade of 2135,000 cubic meters of water.

After leaving the car, you walk along the eastern bank of the basin, along a comfortable flat road that later turns into a path. Following it faithfully, with numerous hairpin bends you gain altitude on the left water slope of the valley, until the slope decreases. The return takes place along the same path as the climb and takes 30 minutes.
