Castello di Piobesi

The Castle of Piobesi was built between 1010 and 1037 by Bishop Landolfo. During the nineteenth century the building was transformed into a private residence for ambassadors. Castello della Rovere

The Della Rovere Castle dates from 1480 to 1517, it was designed by the architect Baccio Pontelli. Initially, it was erected for defence functions. In 1839 the castle was purchased by the brothers Giacomo and Luigi Rey, who restored it and enriched it with frescoes made by Rodolfo Morgari. Towards the end of 1973, the building was purchased by the Municipality of Vinovo. Currently, it houses the Municipal Library and St. John International University.

The Castello di Rivoli dates back to the eleventh century and represents a fortified structure along the Valsusino route of the Via Francigena. It was built at the behest of the bishops of Turin and almost immediately passed to the Savoy who made it become a jewel of the Crown of Delights complex. The structure of the royal residence and the terraced garden were the work of the Urbinate Francesco Paciotto. The decorations of the rooms that exalted the members of the dynasty were made by painters such as Morazzone and Isidoro Bianchi.

Castello la Rotta

The Castle la Rotta was built in the fourth century with the function of defending the bridge over the Banna River. It was owned by the Lombards, the Knights of Malta and then the Savoy family after the sixteenth century. Towards 1706 it was transformed into a gunpowder deposit during the attack of the French in the city of Turin. History has it that Vittorio Amedeo II of Savoy was imprisoned within the walls of the Castle, who went crazy and died suffering. During the second half of the 900 the Castle was purchased by Augusto Oliviero who carried out a restoration and saved him from degradation.
