Varazze is an ancient medieval village in the Province of Savona nestling within an inlet on the Western Riviera.

The village itself is beautiful as well as historic including the church of St. Ambrogio dating back to the 16th century with its Romanesque-Gothic bell tower and the church of St. Domenico built in 1419. There are also the remains of the medieval walls.

Varazze has some beautiful beaches and has been awarded with the Blue Flag for their quality.

It is also a modern tourist port and has many high quality bars, shops and restaurants.

Nearby is the Regional Natural Park of Beigua, its woodland and mountains ideal for walking and enjoying nature.

The climate is pleasant, with moderate temperatures all year round. The sea temperature can reach 27 degrees during the summer.

Quadreria del Seminario Vescovile

The Framework of the Episcopal Seminary is a collection that includes about 100 works dating from the 15th to the 20th century, of which also sculptural presences. It is a rich collection of furnishings and paintings arranged along the corridors and in some rooms of the Seminary. The Quadreria can be visited only by reservation. The Framework of the Episcopal Seminary is a museum in which paintings, sculptures and furnishings are exhibited. All this heritage is the result of donations, especially the voluminous one by Agostino Cortese. Among the most important paintings present are a 15th-century polyptych and a Holy Family attributed to Van Dyck. However, there are other works, such as those by Gio Battista Carlone, Gioacchino Assereto and del Grechetto.

Palazzo Ferrero-Grassi-Lamba Doria

The Palazzo Lamba Doria is a stately residence of the '500. Outside you can see the marble portal embellished by the acefale figures that were taken from the destroyed Palazzo Grimaldi. The interior, on the other hand, was further enriched by frescoes and majolica by the Savonese and Albisolese furnaces. The building was bought by the Chamber of Commerce in 1952. After the restoration finished in 1958, the palace became the seat of the Chamber of Commerce, a role it also plays currently.

Palazzo della Rovere

Built in 1495 and finished in the '500, it is the largest building in the historic center of Savona. In 1507 the palace was used as accommodation for the nobles. During 1673 it was used as a convent for the Poor Clares, which then also became the owners of it. At the beginning of the 19th century he assumed the role of the seat of the Napoleonic Prefecture. The interior has a hallway decorated with the same rounds of antiquity. Today the building is state-owned. In the chapel attributed to the Courthouse, there is a fresco depicting Napoleon's Apotheosis.

The Civic Art Gallery of Savona is located in Palazzo Gavotti. The latter was built in the second half of the 16th century on pre-existing medieval structures and modified in the nineteenth century. The museum, considered among the most important in Liguria, presents a rich collection of paintings, sculptures and ceramics, among these of the Renaissance masterpieces known all over the world. Since 2010, one of the rooms of the art gallery hosts a particular collection of icons dedicated to the “Grand Mother of the Three Hands” collected by Professor Renzo Mantero.
