If you decide to take a walk on the seafront in Albissola Marina in the province of Savona, you will be surprised. There is the beautiful sea of Liguria, of course, but the attention is attracted by the paving of the promenade.

It is colourful, full of large panels of ceramics made by famous artists such as Aligi Sassù and Lucio Fontana. The town was already known in the '600 for its kilns and pottery workshops.

In the fifties of the last century Albissola became a very popular cultural center. Poets, painters and intellectuals and artists chose it as their residence and source of inspiration.

The futurist artist Asger Jorn settled in the city and among his invited friends were also the Dutch Corneille and Karel Appel. Still in the city there are many workshops, artisan shops and art galleries. Albissola is full of art. Twenty distinguished names collaborated at the 'Artists' Walk, and Jorn's panel was added after his death.

On the seafront you can also see 'Nature' by Lucio Fontana and Leoncillo's 'Monuments for the Fallen of All Wars'. The semi-circular ceramic bench by Ignazio Moncada is 42 meters long and closed the walk since 2007. Albissola offers a treasure trove of interesting monuments: Villa Faraggina, a magnificent building of the 18th century full of frescoes, stuccoes, paintings and original furniture within a beautiful park.
