In the Po Delta, along the Romea Road, you can see from afar the high tower of the Abbey of Pomposa. The complex consists of the basilica, the tower, the monastery and the courthouse. Built on an island between the sea and the Po, we find the first track written in the year 874, it is one of the most important Romanesque buildings. In the following centuries its importance and wealth grew and at its peak it was inhabited by more than one hundred monks. At the time it was famous for its library and its possessions that extended to other regions. Very nice basilica with marble mosaic floor. The almost fifty meters high tower was built in 1063. Outside the buildings there is a magnificent park with large green meadows and lakes, a destination for many tourists especially during the weekend.

Near Pomposa, in the direction of Mesola, you can visit the Bosco della Mesola, a nature reserve of which you can see a small part. Beautiful for walking along the paths and listening to the voice of the countless species of birds.

Continuing towards Mesola you arrive at the imposing Castle. The castle was not built as a defense building but as a summer residence and hunting house. The long walls had to be the external defenses of a new city that Duke Estense Alfonso II intended to build to compete in Venice.
