Gaggio Montano is a town in the province of Bologna in Emilia Romagna. This place, inhabited since the Bronze Age, was the stage of important battles of World War II.

Like Montecastello, the town of Gaggio Montano is known to the Brazilian people since many of the 25,334 men of the Brazilian Expedition Force (FEB) stayed and fought in these two locations.
Brazil, initially neutral, entered the war in 1942.

Many soldiers had formed families, and once the war was over, they had to leave their Italian wives behind and there are descendants of the good Brazilians in this village.

If you want to know Gaggio Montano, of great historical importance, I recommend a visit to the Bridge (the native village of Gaggio, with Casa Tanari and Casa Capponi) ; the Church of San Lazzaro and Michele (erected between 1890-98); the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Immigrants; the Sasso di Rocca, where today there is ; the Lighthouse of the Fallen of the Mountain.

Do not miss the Remembrance Park and the Chapel, where the souls lost during the First and Second War are remembered and in the Ronchidoso massacre (1944).
