In the middle of the Aspromonte National Park there is the unique possibility of skiing seeing the sea of Strait of Messina at the same time.
Ski tourism also exists here, in this beautiful village called Gambarie, in Calabria.

The six lifts offer you, quietly climbing the mountain, spectacular views towards the Aeolian Islands, Mount Etna and the sea. The slopes have a total length of 10 kilometers.

Compared to the Alps, there are few people who both winter and summer visit these beautiful places. It's really hard to describe the beauty of the wilderness, which you meet right away, just outside the country. A few roads, lots of trails and mule tracks, make sure that you will feel in another country, a thousand miles away from traditional tourist centers.

Gambarie is located at the foot of the Basilicò and Scirocco mountains and on the latter extend the slopes ski. The village is small, a square with a beautiful fountain that in winter forms an ice sculpture, modern hotels since the development tourist began after the 1950s. Various summer hiking trails start from the village inside the woods.

The Aspromonte National Park is a young park formed by the mountainous massif in the province of Reggio Calabria, covers about 3,300 km2. The forests are full of charm and it's easy to see interesting plants and animals. The nature of the park is magnificent and absolutely unspoiled.

Very characteristic although difficult to reach, and only in summer, is the Sanctuary of the Madonna della Montagna in Polsi in the municipality of Saint Luke.

The convent was built in the 15th century and inside it we find a statue of the Madonna of the 16th century. During the summer months the sacred place is visited by numerous pilgrims.
A nice area to discover one of the lesser-known sides of Calabria.
