Valsavarenche is a beautiful, very wild, valley surrounded by the
National Park of Gran Paradiso. We decided to visit this place to accompany our parents, ski lovers, in a paradise for Nordic skiing, taking advantage of the ease of the ski slopes to introduce our child to the sport.
The park, the small number of inhabitants and steep slopes that enclose the right and left have limited the development of downhill skiing that it offers only a baby track for those who want to learn this sport
without incurring the high costs that would address the major ski resorts. We were told that a development of the area is planned for the coming years, with the replacement of the lift with a double chairlift with expansion of the ski area. We look forward to updates!
The real strength of Valsavarenche remains
cross-country skiing, developed mainly in the valley, at about 1500 meters altitude amidst beautiful scenery. There is also a ring of around 2 km at
Degioz. Higher up, at
Point, at about 2000 meters of altitude, there is a ring of about 5 km approved for Nordic skiing competitions, where there often are important national and international competitions .
After a day of sport in this small village of 180 inhabitants you will notice there is no shortage of restaurants offering Valdostan fine cuisine in the natural beauty of the Gran Paradiso. A little gem not to be missed!
