Cogne is a town in the Aosta Valley at the foot of the
Gran Paradiso massif. The resort is a popular tourist destination of Valle d'Aosta, a paradise for those who love nordic ski. Cogne was our second new experience of cross country skiing and it was a pleasant surprise.
The ski area has
over eighty miles of rings for Nordic skiing, and snow in some parts beautifully lit even at night, for the unwavering discipline.
Cogne still has a
small ski area for alpine skiing, offering a modern system of artificial snow. For lovers of skiing it is not only home to one of the most beautiful alpine resorts for skiing, but is alsoto a famous competition held every year, "
Marciagranparadiso", a contest open to everyone and of considerable prestige, that takes place over a distance of less than 45 kilometers, and then several other international Nordic ski competitions.
The ski slopes of Cogne are easy to approach, and this certainly makes the country an ideal destination for families with children for the first time you approach the world of skiing.
The landscape around Cogne is
typical mountain vegetation consists of dense fir, pine, larch, and dominated by the beautiful Gran Paradiso; it has the advantage that it can offer visitors an extensive range of tracks and paths for hiking.
Hiking is practiced throughout the whole year, we granted a break from skiing for a new experience: a beautiful walk with the foot the famous snow-shoes.
