The seaside town of Pineto is a wonderful Adriatic beach resort. It's a fairly modern holiday development, situated in Abruzzo close by miles of sandy beaches which are shaded by pine trees.
Pineto is a fairly new resort, one of the Seven Sisters (Sette Sorelle) seaside towns in the province of Teramo, and developed during the 20th century. The beaches have Blue Flag status and this is a perfect destination for holidays with family. Scuba diving is popular in the vicinity at the Torre di Cerrano sighting post, with a local scuba school providing all necessary support.
A variety of sporting activities are available locally including sailing, roller skating and tennis. The main historic monuments of the town are the 16th century Tower of Cerrano and Roman remains of the ancient port of Adria, about a mile from the town centre, close by Silvi Marina.
There are a number of good restaurants in the area, with locally-caught fish a speciality of many establishments. The historic town of Mutignano is located in the hills above Pineto and offers a range of traditional village activities, as well as regional festivals and feasts throughout the year. Mutignano has renowned fresco paintings on some of the walls of local buildings.
Summer temperatures in the Pineto area can reach a high of 31 degrees C in August and hover between 5 degrees C and 13 degrees C through winter months of December to February, with a far greater chance of rainfall from November onwards.
