Duomo di Milano
Milan, in the northern Italy, is a versatile and many sided city where you can find almost everything you can expect from an international trip. For the ones who appreciate arts, different cultures, traditions and local history I strongly recommend a cultural trip in all the galleries and museums present in this wonderful city.
You cannot miss a visit in some interesting cultural places like Casa Museo Boschi di Stefano, the Archeological Museum or the Modern Art Gallery, located in the palace where Napoleon lived during his permanence in Italy in 1802.
Undoubtely worth of a visit are the Museum of the Duomo, dedicated to the history and art of the magnificent Milan’s cathedral which collects a historical and cultural heritage which can be referred only to this wonderful church, and the Museo Teatrale alla Scala, hometown of the jewels composing the heritage of Milan’s best known theatre.
The Museo Teatrale alla Scala continues to be a reference point for fans of the Opera, for scholars (also thanks to its Simoni Library, containing over 120 000 volumes, remained in the branch of the Palazzo Busca , in Corso Magenta) and for the musical education of new generations, who may benefit from educational visits animated by specialized personnel.
The twenty rooms of the Museo del Duomo collect instead works of art taken from the original location in the Cathedral and stored here for conservation and restauration. A chronologically arranged itinerary with sculptures, stained glass, drawings, wooden models, tapestries, paintings, graphics, vestments and sacred vessels allow you to follow all the stages of construction of Milan’s Cathedral, from the foundation to the recent restoration.
