Turin - Monuments Monumento Emanuele Filiberto The Monument to Emanuele Filiberto was built by Carlo Marochetti at the will of Carlo Alberto in 1831. The monument was created in Paris, where it had been exhibited in the courtyard of the Louvre. It represents the first Turin public monument and depicts Emanuele Filiberto in the act of sheathing the sword after the victory obtained at the Battle of San Quintino.
Turin - Monuments Quartieri Militari The Military Districts were created by the architect Filippo Juvarra on commission of Vittorio Amedeo II. Formed by two isolated arcades used as barracks, they represent the outlet to the west of the city and are currently the venue for museums and art events. The Monument consists of a pyramid built with parts coming from the excavation of the gallery, and seven titans in white marble, which symbolize the hardness of the strength of nature. It was created to inaugurate the Frejus Gallery.
Azeglio - Monuments Campanile The bell tower of Azeglio dates back to 1787, in the same year the parish of San Martino was built. Designed by engineer Filippo Castelli in 1783. Today we find only an immense bell tower. It stands in the municipality of Azeglio, in the province of Turin, and is located in Piazza Massimo d'Azeglio. The building has historical and architectural value. It is in Baroque Rococo style, with a large neoclassical façade. It is currently open to the public.
Colle della Maddalena - Monuments Faro della Vittoria Torino The Victory Lighthouse is located in the Park of Remembrance. The monument was built in 1928, in memory of the Winged Victory, by the sculptor Edoardo Rubino. The sculpture weighs about 25 tons and is 18.50 meters high. Recently, lights have been placed to make it visible even in the evening. On the façade there is an epigraph of the famous poet Gabriele D'Annunzio.
Novara - Monuments Ossario della Bicocca Inaugurated on 23 March 1879 on the occasion of the thirtieth anniversary of the Battle of Novara, the Ossuary of the Fallen, erected at the Bicocca, was at the center of numerous controversy. The construction was wanted by a citizens' committee who launched a subscription for this purpose. The realization of the project was characterized by numerous clashes. The oppositions and controversy continued over the years. Only on 23 November 1901, a white marble cross was blessed affixed to the monument. The shrine houses the remains of soldiers of both belligerent armies.
