Libraries and archives Biblioteca Nazionale The National Library of Macerata started its activity on 1 December 1990 and is located on the mezzanine floor of the former Palace of Justice. The institute was born from the collaboration between the Ministry for Cultural and Environmental Heritage and the University of Macerata and was officially opened to the public on 11 February 1992. The library has as its book heritage about 76,000 volumes, 3,600 brochures and 340 periodicals.
Libraries and archives Biblioteca Mozzi Borgetti The Mozzi Borgetti Library was opened to scholars on 31 March 1787. It is considered one of the largest in the region for its high volume volume, about 350,000. In addition, inside you can also find a rich photo library of almost 20,000 images (among them also photographic glass plates) and a huge collection of drawings and prints. Finally, the library has a musical and theatrical collection where you can observe manuscripts, posters, booklets and printed music.
Libraries and archives Archivio di Stato The Archive was founded in 1941, following the steps of the city's Municipal Library. The goal of this institution is to collect objects and documents of local and regional heritage. As a result, there are numerous important historical documents inside, both ancient and modern, approximately 122,000 archival elements.
