The church was commissioned to celebrate the return of King Vittorio Emanuele I by the Congress of Vienna after the defeat of Napoleon and it is located on the right bank of the River Po; on the gable of the church there is the inscription "ORDO POPVLVSQVE TAVRINVS OB ADVENTVM REGIS" , 'The nobility and the people of Turin for the return of the king”.

It was built in neoclassical style by Monsignor Ferdinando between 1827 and 1831 and he was inspired by the Pantheon in Rome.

The two statues next to the stairs in front of the church are works by Chelli; we see the Religious on the right, while on the left, the Faithful.
The interior has a circular plan, where there are located, from the right, the statues of St. Maurice, of the Blessed Margaret of Savoy, of Blessed Amadeus of Savoy and of St. John the Baptist.

We see the high altar by Andrea Galassi, the Virgin and Child with crucifix on the altar on the right and the left one the Sacred Heart of Jesus, both works of Edoardo Rubino.

The myth has it that in the basement of this church there is the Holy Grail, very popular among the esoterics. To the left of the staircase descends the ossuary of the fallen in the war of 1915 to 1918.
