La Rosa Scarlatta

In the center of Monterubbiano, a small medieval town set on one of the picturesque hills that run from the mountains to the sea you will find La Rosa Scarlatta, a typical house from the 17th century with an antique terraced garden. Monterubbiano is 463 meters above sea level and the view from the garden overlooking the mountains, the sea and the patchwork hills that make up this mysterious land of the piceni is breathtaking. The apartments have been created by carefully restoring the original building’s storerooms and stables. The original character of the rooms have been maintained providing a unique atmosphere of times past. In the heart of the house is a small theater which is the home of the foundation ‘diversoinverso – per un vivere piú umano’ an arts and humanity foundation. The theater is used for the arts as well as a meeting place and guests are welcome to use it and attend events.

house of the mulberry trees

The house of the mulberry trees is a charming and cozy small house immersed in the garden with a private terrace which is accessed from the fully equipped kitchen. On the terrace you can sunbathe, relax in the hammock, have meals and cook on the barbeque while the sun is setting over the mountains. Upstairs is a quiet double bedroom and bathroom. The apartment has central heating. Maximum occupancy two people.

The Stable

The stable is a captivating apartment that once was the cellar of the main house. The kitchen/dining room has large French windows that open onto a private balcony which leads to the antique terraced garden. The ceilings are the original vaulted ceilings made from the local pink bricks. There is a bathroom and a double bedroom with a small window that looks out onto a view that is seemingly infinite. The kitchen/dining room has a sofa bed and a cast iron heater. Maximum occupancy three people.

The Little Tower

The little tower is an enchanting apartment housed in a small medieval tower and part of a wing of the main house. In the tower entrance is access to the terraced garden and a spiral wood and iron staircase that leads to the apartment rooms above. There is a bathroom in the tower and a kitchen and double bedroom in the adjacent wing. The windows overlook the garden and a view to the sea. In the kitchen are a sofa bed and a cast iron heater. Maximum occupancy three people. In the highest part of the house is “il cielo” a large bedroom with 2 beds and a bathroom that can be opened up to “La piccola torre” so that the maximum occupancy becomes five people.

The Old Storeroom

The old storeroom is a lovely large apartment with a loft and an open plan in keeping with the original structure of the old building. The materials used in the restoration, terracotta tiles, wood floors, wrought iron balustrades along the balcony and the old wood ceiling beams make this apartment particularly appealing. The original small windows look out on an alley which leads to the terraced garden through a medieval tower. On the ground floor is a living area set around a cast iron heater, a kitchen, a double bedroom and a bathroom. Upstairs there is a double bedroom and a loft with a sofa bed. Maximum occupancy five people.
