Vigevano is a beautiful city located in northern Italy in the Lombardy region. Also known as the capital of footwear, Vigevano can offer its visitors moments of pure emotion. Some of the most beautiful places and really worth a visit are: the main square of the city, Piazza Ducale, considered by experts as one of the most beautiful squares of the Italian Renaissance, was built at the behest of Ludovico il Moro, between 1492 and 1494; the Castle, where, according to studies, the first inhabited area of the city developed. Another important and necessary visit is the one to the Cathedral of San Ambrogio, or Duomo, built in 1445 in honor of St. Peter, inside there are present beautiful frescoes that represent the richness and artistic importance of this sacred place.
Vigevano, known as the center of shoe production, which is not only worth visiting for the shoe museum. Visiting this city can be connected with a stay in Milan, as it is only 35 km away from there. You can see the Piazza Ducale, the “Vigevano Hall”, impressive in size and surrounded by a curved colonnade. This place resembles the Piazza San Marco in Venice. It is harmonious, even if the styles come from different eras. Here stands the Cathedral, dedicated to S. Ambrogio, and the civic tower. This tower is 55 meters high, you can also visit it, or by crossing an underpass and a ramp to reach the courtyard of the royal palace, which dominates the city. The royal palace was built by the princes of Milan, the Sforza family, who declared the city as their favorite residence. The city is still in a very beautiful area in the middle of nature, on the Po Valley, not so far from the river Ticino. So the Duke's palace was expanded, and now you can see the former stable, where more than a thousand horses were kept, the Falconry. The Loggia delle Signore, is a road 160 m long, and 7 meters wide, which takes us inside the building. The entire building is well preserved, it is restored continuously. In summer, there are some events in the courtyard of the palace, for example, open-air concerts.
