Montone is a small medieval village, whose origins date back to the tenth century, or at least it is only from this moment that we have certain news of its existence.
Perfectly preserved and unchanged over the centuries with mighty walls that surround the town, Montone has narrow and winding streets that wind and alternate with the wide staircases that walk through the center, the imposing bell towers and the magnificent fortress of Braccio Fortebracci, provide us with the idea of its importance.
The events of Montone follow the alternate fate of the Fortebracci family and in the fifteenth century. the city reached its maximum splendor, thanks to the figure of Armo da Montone, Captain of Venture, famous for his skills as a strategist and for his political unscrupulousness.
Braccio Fortebracci was born in Montone to a family counted among the Perugian nobility at the turn of the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries. Following the struggles between the factions that contested the government of Perugia, the Fortebracci together with all the nobles were banned.
Exile marked the life of Braccio, generating in him that desire for redemption that led him to mature the dream of becoming lord of Perugia. The adventurous parable of this leader was for the small town of Montone a source of intense artistic production.
