The variety of the environment, from the wide plain to the Erice and Cofano Mountains, the natural reserve of the salt pans and the sea, make it possible to Trapani a world to discover.

City set between two seas, known as the city of salt and sailing, has developed over time a thriving economic activity linked to extraction and salt trade, taking advantage of its natural position, overlooking the Mediterranean, and its port that formerly served as a commercial outlet for the most famous Eryx, today Erice, located on the mountain above Trapani.

The salt pans of Trapani and Paceco constitute a natural habitat of considerable nature in a landscape dotted with ancient windmills. Great landscape aspects are the Viale delle Sirene near the Tower of Ligny, which takes on a real conformation of a “terrace on the sea” offering breathtaking views and unmissable sunsets and the walk to the Walls of Tramontana, which represents one of the most evocative views.

In Sicily there are wonderful places to know and visit, in one of these, Trapani, you will find a wonderful world that lives a present surrounded by history... a story and a place to discover!

The city of Trapani is located on the beautiful Sicilian island near the Egadi Islands. After the defeat of the Carthaginians (241 BC) he became Roman, but it was under the Norman and Arab dominations that he had considerable growth in the commercial sector.

The testimonies of these dominations are still present today and there are beautiful monuments, churches and palaces to visit, among which: the Sanctuary of the Annunziata, considered one of the most important buildings in the city (erected in 1332 and rebuilt n 1760); Pepoli Regional Museum (archaeological and artistic collections); the Palazzo della Giudecca and the beautiful Cathedral (Baroque facade).

Please don't go away without trying the delicious focaccia (sfinciuni), fish soup (cususu) and fried artichokes and eggs (sick)... Absolutely not to be missed!!!

Erice — a dive into the Middle Ages

It's cold dog outside, the sun is gone, you don't know where and I can't do anything but warm up with a cup of hot tea and memories of the hot Sicily< /strong >, and precisely Erice.

This small village perched on top of the homonymous mountain is located in western Sicily (about ten kilometers from Trapani ) and if you happen to go on vacation around here, you can't miss it at all.

The village is a perfect example of a typical medieval village, with its characteristic cobbled streets, narrow and very steep, the inner courtyard flourished, the sumptuous medieval palaces and churches (they say there are more than 60). It really seems like time has stopped here.

Especially if you happen to be there in the winter time when there are few people and the streets, immersed in the fog that after a certain hour reaches Erice, seem almost like unreal.

To get to Erice you have two possibilities: to come by car along the very nice road, but uphill and full of hairpin bends, or take the < strong>cable car in Trapani to reach the summit in about ten minutes. (Clearly the solution is not suitable for those who suffer from dizziness).

Dedicated to Erice at least a couple of hours (obviously better than that) to be able to visit it calmly. Among many monuments whose number makes the head turn not to be missed are the imposing helimo-Punic walls, the castle of Venus (from the top you can see a splendid panorama) and the Balio towers, the The Mother Church, the Balio Gardens.

When you have enough of it or to let your legs rest take a stop to taste one of the local specialties.

In the pastry shop you will find the characteristics “Genoesi”, tasty panzerotti stuffed with soft milk cream and flavored with Marsala, or < strong>almond pastries garnished with candied cherries.

A city as sweet as its wine

Marsala is a beautiful and characteristic city in Sicily, in southern Italy, which really deserves to be visited. In Marsala it's easy to feel at home... the famous and traditional Italy, where the people are warm and a good dish of pasta is always ready on the table..

Here you will find a great Arab influence, since the city was still called Marsa Allah (Port of God), and it was under Saracen domination. A trip to the historic center of this city is really not to be missed.

It is worth observing and patiently admiring the beautiful buildings that are located in the traditional and important 'Piazza della Republica', or Loggia, as it is equally known. I also recommend a visit to the Duomo of the city, erected as a tribute to St. Thomas of Cantebury.

Don't forget to try the delicious Marsala wine, sweet and fortified!

Who does not know this fortified wine with an intense taste and aroma so strong that it makes their heads turn. In fact, the first thing I recommend you do is run to a local producer and grab a few bottles of this divine drink. You can also enjoy a glass in the historic center of the city, including Spanish, Baroque testimonies and a thousand bell towers.

Perhaps this is the best solution, because there are many types of wine: Egg Marsala, Marsala coffee, strawberry, stravecchio, Zibibbo, almond...

The list is long and only sipping it between one monument and another will you be able to discover the taste that suits you. Surely it won't be the time wasted, because in addition to the beautiful historic center, Marsala offers beautiful nature.

The 10 km of sandy beach and the clean and crystal clear sea will make those of you who love the sea happy. The perfect place to sunbathe, swim, dive and practice water sports.

Always on the sea is the Riserva dello Stagnone which is an excellent alternative to idleness on the beach. Walking in an enchanting scenery, among dunes of white salt and windmills you can admire migratory birds or go hiking to the island of Mozia or to the other islets of the archipelago.

Favignana, the Butterfly isle

Favignana island remains unspoiled, little known and therefore saved from mass tourism. In a breathtaking landscape alternating rugged cliffs, sharp rocks, sand soft and white which rest harmoniously in a sea of a thousand nuances. The island is small, it can run safely by bicycle and this allows us to appreciate the scenery: golden land, and often dry, surrounded by the reflection of blue sea. Wandering the streets of the village (the only country on the island) and in the shops you can exchange a few words with the people, always friendly and smiling.

Fruits, vegetables, bread, pizza and fish dishes are a more economical and tasty, the marina can be seen traps, tradition and the main tourist attraction of the island, and at sea can be seen sparkle at night the networks of buoys indicating that traps extending almost to Levanzo. In the dark depths of night you can see the sky for hours, without the annoying lights of the city and the only light that will guide your steps along the paths of the island, will be the moon.

Favignana is also wellness: sludge that can be drawn from clay of Cala Azzurra makes the skin soft and smooth for days, as if you had a bath in milk and not in salt water.
