The town of Sauze d'Oulx is about 340 meters above sea level, it has 1,100 inhabitants. It is about 83 kilometers from Turin and was called in this way because of the numerous willows that grow in the area. Already inhabited in Roman times, in the Middle Ages it was the kingdom of Burgundy and then belonged to the Dauphine.In 1747 it was the basis for the French retreat after the battle of Assietta.
