Two other accesses to the city are represented by Porta del Pero in the north and Porta Sant'Andrea in the west, which, together with some sections of the walls, constitute the remains of the ancient circle of walls that protected the country. It was Francesco Sforza who made such fortifications between 1433 and 1446. The city wall was equipped with three fortresses that no longer exist.
