In the building at the entrance to the ollàre stone quarry, it is possible to find the Archaeological Museum of Valchiavenna on the first floor. During the visit to the rooms it is possible to "walk" in the millennial history of Chiavenna and its Valley. We are accompanied along the path by didactic panels, reconstructive drawings of scenarios and landscapes and, above all, the finds, objects that directly from the past are able to tell us about the life, work and beliefs of those who lived in these places over the centuries.

The woods are different like deciduous and chestnut groves at lower altitudes and classic needles at just higher altitudes up to the alpine prairies rich in typical flora and in summer “crowded” of herds in the mountain pastures where the most delicious cheeses in Valtellina are born. As for the fauna, we can say that it is typical Alpine: deer, roe deer, ibex and also the populations of tetraonids, such as the Capercock, not surprisingly the symbol of the Park.

Sovere - WWF Oasis Riserva Naturale Regionale Valpredina The nature reserve of Valpredina is located between 380 m and 1100 m above sea level. Since 1983 the entire area has been owned by the Italian Association of WWF, which still manages the reserve. The reserve covers an area of 37 hectares, where the Predina stream flows. The area can be visited and guided views are also organized.

Urgnano - Castles, palaces and mansions Castello di Urgnano The castle of Urgnano was built by Archbishop Giovanni, in 1354, after his brother Luchino Visconti died. Over the centuries he had several owners, finally passing, once and for all, to the municipality. The building has a quadrilateral shape with four towers at the end. To make it difficult to attack enemies, he is surrounded by the moat. It has two entrances, one to the north and the other on the other side, and is built entirely of terracotta. Inside it is divided in half, to the west there is the courtyard, to the east the roof garden.

Its founder was Tino Sana, who wanted to tell the story of his trade. The Museum has undergone a great transformation going from the function of a natural collection to an institution whose main purpose is to make known and preserve the beauties of the territory. The Museum is divided into sections among which we can name the rooms in which the furnishings of the ancient pharmacies are presented.
Como - Castles, palaces and mansions Palazzo Olginati Even Olginati Palace dates back to the fifteenth century, elegant exterior and richly decorated interiors. The building was donated to the municipality with the condition to create a museum in honor of Giuseppe Garibaldi. Currently, the exhibition is organized in sections of the Risorgimento and Contemporary History and Ethnography.
Como - Castles, palaces and mansions Villa Romana In Via Zezio you can admire the remains of the Roman villa, partly destroyed by the invasion construction. You can still see fragments of painted wall plaster, mosaics and bronze statues.
Costa Masnaga - Walls, towers and gates Torre Beretta The Beretta Tower was initially part of a castle. The tower was built in the 11th century, and it was a fortified building that had the function of guarding the entire surrounding area. At the beginning of the twentieth century, only a few ruins remained, above which a second villa was built in eclectic aulic style, called Villa Beretta.
Costa Masnaga - Walls, towers and gates Torre Camisasca The Camisasca Tower was built between the 12th and 13th centuries. In the fifteenth century the tower passed to the court and remained its property until 1517, because it later passed to the monastery of Lambrugo. The building has a rectangular structure with a square base, 12 meters high with small windows. In 2005, the tower underwent restoration interventions and currently cultural events are organized in its interior.
Cremona - Castles, palaces and mansions Torrazzo The tower is the highest masonry bell tower in Europe (112m) and is also the symbol of Cremona. The structure has a square base, the exterior is made of brick, on which there is also the largest astronomical clock in the world. The pictorial realization of the dial was recently repainted by the painter Mario Busini. It is currently the bell tower of the Cathedral of Cremona.
Fagnano Olona - Castles, palaces and mansions Castello Visconteo The Visconti Castle of Fagnano was built in the twelfth century. It was born for a military purpose, and in the sixteenth century it was expanded by Gaspare Visconti. Inside there is a beautiful garden, and two towers, preserved in good condition, from which you have a magnificent view of Monte Rosa.
Fombio - Castles, palaces and mansions Castello di Fombio The Castle of Fombio was built in the early fourteenth century by the lord of Piacenza, Alberto Scotti. The intent was to erect a fortress where the inhabitants could find refuge in the event of war. The changes occurred in the 18th century reported extensions in the structure. Today, the building is communally owned and can be visited by the public.
Frascarolo - Castles, palaces and mansions Castello Grande The Great Castle was built during the 14th century. The building had the function of protecting crops and inhabitants. In 1882 it was restored by the architect Vandone of Vigevano in a very elegant style that made it one of the most particular buildings in Lomellina. Outside there is also a small garden that gives it a very nice view.
Frascarolo - Castles, palaces and mansions Castello di Frascarolo The Castle of Frascarolo is assumed to date back to 1160. It was used as a fortress to defend itself against the Comaschi. In the 16th century it was purchased by the Medici, who turned it into a 16th-century residence.
Gordona - Walls, towers and gates Torre di Segname The Segname tower was built between the 9th and 10th centuries, with the function of signaling dangers. The building had a simple structure. The tower had an important function because it was the only tower that controlled the entire surrounding area.
Incudine - Castles, palaces and mansions Castello di Incudine Diroccato The Castle of Anvil presumably dates back to the end of the 9th century, a period when the invasions of the Hungarians took place. All the information we have about it, given by various scholars, is not certain. It is assumed, in fact, that it was part of other buildings of this type. By analyzing the structure, however, it is possible to make it go back between the 15th and 18th centuries. Today, only a few ruins remain, surrounded by greenery.
Induno Olona - Churches and places of worship Chiesa di San Bernardino The Church of San Bernardino was built in 1567 in honor of the Saint. Inside the rooms have a rectangular shape and are made of marble. On the altar there are frescoes in which the 'Adoration of the Shepherds' and the 'Nativity of Maria' are represented.
Lardirago - Castles, palaces and mansions Castello Lardirago The Lardirago Castle was built in the first half of the fourteenth century. Over the years it has been destroyed and restored several times. It has a linear structure and today it has become a modern convention center.
Legnano - Museums Museo civico Sutermeister The Guido Sutermeister Civic Museum collects the materials found by the engineer Guido Sutermeister during the years 1925 and 1964. These findings demonstrate the existence of a local civilization since the Bronze Age. The Museum consists of five rooms where the materials are exhibited.
Legnano - Castles, palaces and mansions Castello Legnano The Castle of Legnano was better known as the Castle of San Giorgio until the 13th century. The church of San Giorgio was also attached to the building. It has been used for various uses, ultimately that of a farm. In 2005 it was renovated and opened to the public, and since 2007 it became part of the project “Sale Legnano”.

Verolavecchia - Walls, towers and gates Torre del Castello Scorzarolo The Tower of the Scorzarolo Castle was built in 1194. The building has a quadrangular structure built of bricks with archiacute windows. The tower was restored in recent years and is currently in good condition.
Vigevano - Castles, palaces and mansions Palazzo Sanseverino Palazzo Sanseverino was also known as the “Rocca Nuova”, to differentiate itself from the other building similar to this. It was built around the early 1490's at the behest of Galeazzo Sanseverino, from which it takes its name. Today we see it as a noble residence, but in reality it has also had military and defensive functions over the centuries. The structure is in good condition, this is also because many renovations have been carried out. The palace is among the most visited in the area.
Vigevano - Streets and Squares Piazza Ducale Piazza Ducale in Vigevano is one of the most beautiful squares of Italy in the Renaissance style. The building began in 1492 at the behest of Ludovico il Moro and ended two years later. It's surrounded on three sides by porticos and facades are decorated with frescoes.

Vimercate - Bridges Ponte San Rocco Ponte San Rocco di Vimercate was built in the twelfth century. Over the years, the bridge continued to maintain its original structure with two towers and a civic door. The construction today represents one of the most precious works of the sixteenth century. It is currently the property of the Territorial Public Body.

Zavattarello - Castles, palaces and mansions Castello dal Verme Historical news of the Castello dal Verme has been reported starting from the tenth century AD when it was part of the monastery of Bobbio. It is a fortress that dominates the town of Zavattarello in the province of Pavia. In 1390, the bishop of the Monastery gave the fortress to Captain Jacopo dal Verme who maintained the property until 1975. The castle has walls of about four meters thick, and consists of about forty rooms divided on several levels communicating through internal stairs.
Valdidentro - Walls, towers and gates Torre di Fraele The Tower of Fraele is one of the most important fortifications of the Municipality. It dates back to 1391 and is more than 1900 meters high. The building has a rectangular structure and has always been used as a defensive system. Today it is in good condition thanks to the remarkable restorations made over the years.
Valdisotto - Museums Forte Venini Fort Venini is located in the municipality of Valdisotto not far from the town of Oga. The building also known as Forte di Oga was built between 1909 and 1912 on the hills of Dossaccio. Today, after some restoration work, it houses the Museum of the Great War.
Varese - Castles, palaces and mansions Castello di Masnago Masnago Castle was built around the fifteenth century by the Castiglioni family for military purposes. A characteristic feature of this building are the numerous international Gothic frescoes that enrich the walls inside it, and, in addition to these, we also find the works of modern Lombard painters collected and contemporaries. Today the municipality has used it as a Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art.
Sondrio - Churches and places of worship Convento Frati Cappuccini In the 17th century, the Capuchin Monastery was built. In this same period, the Church of Suffrage and that of the Guardian Angel were also built.
Sovere - Walls, towers and gates Torre Foresti The Tower of the Forests of Sovere was built in the 13th century, for mainly military reasons. In the Middle Ages, the structure played a very important role for the inhabitants because it was in a nodal position of commercial traffic. Currently, the tower is in excellent state of preservation.
Stradella - Castles, palaces and mansions Castello Montalino It is located on a hill, elevated from the rest of the country and to the neighboring buildings. We talked about this building before the year 1000 of the Middle Ages. The castle stands out for its impressive crenellated tower, which is also the only testimony of the 'strong city'. Teglio - Walls, towers and gates Torre de li Beli Miri The tower dates back to the Middle Ages, and was part of a castle that no longer exists due to numerous attacks over the years. From its position it can be assumed that it was part of the castle's surveillance system. Its shape is that of a square plan, which is the result of continuous restoration work. Today you can visit freely and it is a place suitable for those who love nature.
Tirano - Castles, palaces and mansions Castello San Maria Diroccato The castle of Santa Maria Diroccato is known as Castellaccio. So called by the homonymous church and hospital of which traces are found already in the twelfth century. While it is thought that the origins of the structure date back to the fifteenth century, since the time of Ludovico il Moro, who had greatly appreciated the excellent geographical position of the structure. The ruins of the castle and the tower have survived to the present day.
Truccazzano - Castles, palaces and mansions Castello Corneliano The Corneliano Castle was built in 1385. In 1700 the castle was owned by the Bigli family, and later it passed to the Borromeo family, to which it belonged for several centuries. Currently, various events such as weddings, ceremonies and meetings are organized in this ancient castle.
Somaglia - Castles, palaces and mansions Castello Cavazzi Somaglia After its construction, the Cavazzi Somaglia Castle has undergone numerous restorations. The structure was abandoned for a long time, so inside there are no more traces of its ancient splendor. In 1980 Guendalina Cavazzi della Somaglia, donated the building to the Municipality. Currently in the structure there is the Amphibian Center and the teaching classrooms that make us during guided tours to the Monticchie Nature Reserve.
Sabbioneta - Walls, towers and gates Porta Imperiale The Imperial Gate of Sabbioneta was built in 1579 and was dedicated to the Emperor Rudolf II of Habsburg. It stands out for its façade composed of smooth ravines and the neoclassical gable that replaced the original loggia.
Sabbioneta - Walls, towers and gates Porta Vittoria Porta Vittoria was built in the second half of the 16th century and represents one of the two entrance doors to the city of Sabbioneta. It is characterized by an impressive appearance and has a façade divided into two parts of which the lower one has three arched openings and the upper one is a loggia. Above the entrance are the coats of arms of the Gonzaga-Colonna family and an epigraph in Latin.
Semiana - Churches and places of worship Pieve e Battistero di Velezzo XI sec. The Parish Church and the Baptistery of Velezzo are buildings that date back to the eleventh century. La Pieve, is a group of farmhouses arranged around the church and the baptistery. The building is dedicated to the Nativity of Mary and is currently managed by the Church of Lomello. Instead, the Baptistery has been recently renovated and today we find it in excellent condition. It stands out compared to other buildings of this type because it is circular plan.
Seniga - Castles, palaces and mansions Villa Fenaroli Villa Fenaroli was built in the sixteenth century and restored during the 18th-19th century by great architects such as Emilio Alemagna and Giovanni Battista Marchetti. In the nineteenth century the villa passed to the Lagorio family. During World War II this was used as a German gendarmerie center. Since 2006, after having undergone some restorations, the villa was transformed into a luxury hotel.
Seregno - Walls, towers and gates Torre del Barbarossa The Torre del Barbarossa dates back to the twelfth century. It was used as a bell tower of the church of San Vittore while now it is a civic tower. It is considered a symbol of the city and is built according to the particular Guelph style. Currently, the Tower is owned by the Municipality, which through various restorations has managed to maintain its original structure.
Sondrio - Monuments Madonna della Rocca The Chapel of Madonna Annunziata, known as Madonna della Rocca because the statue depicting the Virgin kneeling at a lectern holds the conocchia in his left hand (fortress in local dialect). The chapel was built in about 1713 and was to be part of a series of 15 chapels dedicated to the mysteries of the Rosary that were supposed to compose a sacred path along the Via Valerian and end at the church of Madonna della Sassella. The chapel has been recently restored.
Sondrio - Castles, palaces and mansions Casa Lavizzari Casa Lavizzari is a building dating back to the 17th century rich in well-kept artistic elements: the stone staircase, the arches, the larch wood door and the old frescoes of great historical importance and cultural. It is a three-storey building, from which you can easily notice the age of the construction itself, which represents one of the oldest buildings in the city.
Sondrio - Castles, palaces and mansions Palazzo Martinengo The Martinengo Palace, dating back to the '500 and renovated in neoclassical style, before which stands an obelisk with four statues, was built in honor of Ferdinand I of Austria. The building has undergone renovations that changed its appearance numerous times. From 1859 to 1935 the building was destined as the headquarters of the Royal Prefecture, while currently houses the Permanent Exhibition of the Fulvio Grazioli Mineral Collection as well as the Municipal Historical Archive.
Sondrio - Monuments Casa Ferrari The portal to number 21 of Via Cavallotti is among the oldest among those present in the city. The coat of arms carved in the lintel belongs to the Ferrari di Montagna family, who settled in Valtellina in the second half of the fourteenth century.
Sondrio - Castles, palaces and mansions Palazzo Carbonera Palazzo Carbonera is located in a neighborhood, formerly known as a 'canton', which has existed since the Middle Ages and, since those times, it is crossed by the famous Via Valerian which has always represented the only western access to the city. On several doors and windows you can still notice the coat of arms of the Parravicini, although today the building is owned by the Carbonera, from which it takes its name.

Today the palace is home to the Valtellina Museum of History and Art. Inside you can find prehistoric elements of local origin, and a large collection of contemporary and modern art.

It was its owners, the Carbonera family, who commissioned its restoration, giving the building a new aspect or the current one. Its typical Baroque elements are quite remarkable throughout its structure, which also owns a tower, symbol of the power of the family.
Peschiera Borromeo - Castles, palaces and mansions Castello Borromeo The Castle was built from 1422, based on written testimonies and is the oldest possession of the Borromeo in Lombardy. This original structure includes the walls, the tower, the rivellino and the great moat. The centuries-old plants of the enclosed garden, the courtyard, the frescoed rooms contribute to creating a unique atmosphere. It is currently in excellent condition and is open to the public.
Pieve del Cairo - Castles, palaces and mansions Castello Beccaria It was built in the twelfth century and belonged to the Beccaria family. It has a quadrangular shape, with an internal moat and a beautiful garden that surrounds it. Over the centuries, its structure has been damaged and modified several times. At the entrance you can still see a coat of arms of the family. Today it is owned by individuals.
Pieve Emanuele - Castles, palaces and mansions Castello di Tolcinasco The imposing Castle of Tolcinasco dates back to the 16th century and was built at the behest of the D'Adda family. Initially its purpose was to barn and only later it was used as an agricultural court. Today it is considered as one of the most beautiful examples of fortified casina. It is currently privately owned.
Pioltello - Churches and places of worship Parrocchia di Sant'andrea The Church of Sant'Andrea was built in the 16th century by Merlo and Carlo Giuseppe. It is structured by a single, simple central nave and inside there are two altars, built according to the Baroque style of the eighteenth century.
Ponti sul Mincio - Castles, palaces and mansions Castello di Ponti San Mincio The Castle was erected during the twelfth century, with the aim of protecting and supervising the entire area. During the twentieth century the Castle was restored. The building consists of four towers. In the past it was also used by justice administrators.
Pozzolengo - Castles, palaces and mansions Castello Mastio The Mastio Castle of Pozzolengo was built in the twelfth century. Its purpose was to defend the inhabitants from the invasions of the Magiari. During the 15th and 16th centuries, several restorations were made at the castle. In fact, this was greatly expanded. The building has a trapezoidal structure, with numerous cylindrical towers, one of which has been transformed into a bell tower.
Rozzano - Castles, palaces and mansions Castello Visconteo From the Visconti Castle of Rozzano there have been historical references since the year 1000 and from historical materials it turns out that it was inhabited during the fourteenth century. The fortress was owned by the Trivulzio family who gave it, in 1836, to the Visconti di Modrone. This family owes the various structural extensions as well as the reconstructions of the interior spaces. The building has brick walls that enclose a square courtyard with towers placed at the corners of the structure.
Rozzano - Museums Fondazione Arnaldo Pomodoro The Foundation of Arnaldo Pomodoro was founded in 1995 by the will of the great Italian artist and sculptor who decided to establish a foundation with the intent of being a place for study and comparison of the avant-garde themes contemporary. There have been numerous offices scattered around Lombardy that have received great interest from art professionals and also from visitors. Currently, the property has moved to Via Vigevano 9, near the Navigli Darsena in Milan. Since 2007, the Foundation has been recognized as the Museum of the Lombardy Region.

In 1975, Count Giuseppe Dal Verme's family donated the castle to the Municipality of Zavattarello, which took care of restorations and maintenance, turning it into a hub of tourist and cultural attraction.
Colli Verdi - Castles, palaces and mansions Castello di Montu' The Castle of Montu' was built in the twelfth century under the Belcredi family. It has an L-shaped structure and has been restored only lately, to readjust it to a private home.
Sabbioneta - Museums Galleria degli Antichi The Gallery of the Ancients was built in the second half of the 16th century and was called 'The Great Corridor'. It did not have the function of connecting the ducal environments to some secret place, but it was established to contain the archaeological collection of the then Duke and a collection of marbles purchased by the royal court of Spain.
Sabbioneta - Theaters Teatro all'Antica The Teatro all'Antica was commissioned by Vespasiano to the architect Vincenzo Scamozzi in 1587. The project was the first example of theatre of the modern era not bound by existing buildings. The internal structure recalls the scheme of classic theaters with semicircle in the center and raised stage. The loggia, formerly home of the ladies, was frescoed by artists from the workshop of Paolo Veronese.
Mornico Losana - Castles, palaces and mansions Castello di Mornico The Castle of Mornico is mentioned for the first time in a notarial act of 1350. It was home to the noble Belcredi family, who in the 18th century transformed it into a very elegant palace. After several renovations, the structure has assumed a Gothic aspect that it still maintains today.
Paderno Franciacorta - Castles, palaces and mansions Castello Oldofredi The Oldofredi Castle was built in 1009. It was often the subject of dispute during the war between Guelphs and Ghibellines. After a profound restoration, carried out in the 19th century, the castle was completed modified losing its original appearance. Only the two corner towers are left of the ancient castle. Today, it houses the headquarters of the Municipal Library.
Monza - Walls, towers and gates Torre Viscontea The Viscontea Tower is located in the municipality of Monza. The building was built in 1808, near the Castle of Monza. In the rooms of the tower there are still ancient elements and in the wall there is still the stone coat of arms of Charles II of Spain.
Pavia - Cultural centers Collegio Fraccaro The Plinio Fraccaro College was founded in 1963, incorporating the nineteenth-century wing of the ancient San Matteo Hospital. In 1943 the building was occupied by German troops. The College is supported by the University with the collaboration of the Board for Public Works of Lombardy and the Ministry of Education.
Pavia - Cultural centers Collegio Cairoli The Cairoli College was founded in 1781, and is a university college of Pavia, located in the center of the city. The structure of the building is square, with a large garden. Today it is part of the EDISU residential network. To register for the College it is accessed only through the public competition.
Pavia - Cultural centers Collegio Ghislieri The Ghislieri College of Pavia is located in the historic center of Pavia and was erected in 1567. Today it is known as a highly qualified cultural institution. It is a private university college, and is reserved for students of the University of Pavia, it is accessed, on the basis of merit, through public competition.
Pavia - Churches and places of worship Chiostro di Santa Maria alle Cacce The Cloister of Santa Maria alle Caccia owes its name to the fact that it was outside the walls of Pavia and was the place where the Lombards went for the hunt. It was built in 747 by the then King Rachis. During the centuries it suffered several damages and was rebuilt in 1936. However, the Lombard architectural structures remain visible, such as the windows outward and the column that separated the central nave from the left one. There are also frescoes as different as that of the vault, depicting the “Virgin carried by angels” by Andrea Lanzani.
Milan - Castles, palaces and mansions Palazzo Gallarati Scotti Palazzo Gallarati Scotti is a vast building built in the early 18th century at the behest of the homonymous family. It has a Baroque style with an articulated front, with three stone balconies and a porch with Tuscan columns that surround the main courtyard. Even if the building has been damaged, it still retains some of the Baroque decorations and a remarkable collection of Art.
Milan - Castles, palaces and mansions Palazzo Borromeo d'Adda Palazzo Borromeo d'Adda was built by the architect Arganini at the behest of the Marquis Fedo d'Adda. The building consists of a very long facade in neoclassical style, with a central arched door and decorated with granite settlers, who hold the noble balcony. Of particular interest is the monumental staircase turned into barrels. Artists and literaries have always attended this palace as a meeting place.
Milan - Castles, palaces and mansions Palazzo Melzi di Cusano The Palace dates back to the mid-20th century and is the work of the well-known architect Giovanni Battista Bareggi. The building was built on an existing dwelling of the '400, with a neoclassical style. The front side is characterized by huge pillars of Ionian order, while inside the noble apartment we can still observe the neoclassical decorations. Currently, part of the building houses the Razor Museum which shows the evolution of the art of shaving.

Milan - Monuments Seminario Arcivescovile The headquarters of the seminar in Milan was inaugurated in December 1564, to implement the decisions of the Council of Trent. It was originally located near the Church of St. Vitto, but a year later it was moved to an area further north.
