Excursions in Garda, in the photo a snapshot of the lake
The historic town of Garda enjoys an enviable position on the eastern shores of Lake Garda,38 km from the city of Verona.
Highlights of Garda include the Old Town which is famed for its narrow, winding streets and well preserved historic buildings including the 14th century Captain's Palace and the 16th Century Villa degli Albertini.
The lake itself is a major highlight and can be enjoyed from a boat trip or even by bathing in its waters. For families the Gardaland Theme Park and the Caneva Water Park are both within easy reach.
Day trips slightly further afield include the fair city of Verona and the famous City of Water, Venice. The best time to visit Garda is just before or just after the high season, from either May-July or September-October when temperatures are still warm and there are fewer crowds.
