A few kilometres from Pisa, the town of Calci extends along the Valley, also known as Valgraziosa, dotted with villages and settlements that fall within the broader framework of morphological Monti Pisani, a true natural amphitheatre dominated by the summit of Monte Serra.
Girded himself from the Pisan mountains, the monastic complex, also known as Carthusian Monastery of Pisa, is extended in Valgraziosa, it is among the most suggestive views of the calcesano area, (a work of the '300 and restored between the seventeenth and eighteenth century), together with the Museum of Natural History and of the Territory very important in European and unique in its kind.

We suggest walks and hikes along mountain trails with routes for several days in the medium and long range (trekking), even on horseback. Among the possible stops we advice holiday farms, where you can buy the genuine products of the simple earth. For those who love cycling, the country is connected to the network of cycle paths for the lower basin of the Arno.

Continuing in the direction of Calci towards the green valley of Zambra you reach the Certosa di Calci, one of the finest religious buildings in Tuscany. The Charterhouse is one of the greatest examples of baroque in Tuscany and is considered the palace of the enclosure. Entering inside you are struck by the contrast between the green lawn and the spectacular facade adorned with statues. Among these there is "hope" and "faith" remembering the building's main scope, being hope and faith the two fundamental "rules" of hermit's life.
