Skiing on the Tonale Pass in Trentino
Last year we decided to end the ski season during late spring, and doing research we decided to spend a weekend of skiing at Passo del Tonale, famous for skiing off-season.
Located at the foot of the glacier Presena (3,000 meters), at Passo Tonale is also possible to ski in late autumn and spring.
Passo Tonale is certainly one of the best places to ski in Lombardy and the one with the most modern equipment of facilities: 30 modern and avant-garde installations, for 100 km of slopes.
The ski lifts are "first class", because of the numerous modern 4-seater chair covered with an automatic.
And the tracks are no less: the snow, in perfect conditions, (thanks to the powerful snow cannons) covers flat grassland, steep slopes and the mountain glacier Presena.
In the latter area it is possible to ski almost all year long and experienced skiers will find one of the most famous slopes of the Alps, the nera Paradiso. Skiers with good skills should not miss the Alpino runway or a descent from Passo dei Contrabbandieri: despite our very different levels (I am experienced, my boyfriend is a beginner) we still had a great time! Passo Tonale is also connected to Ponte di Legno-Temù through a cable into two segments with 8 seats and to the slope Tonalin Pegrà. Passo Tonale became a favorite ski champions camp workout both for alpine and Nordic ski.
The trail extends for 5 km on the sunny side of the pass.
Many groups of young athletes and athletes attending the Tonale throughout the year long season of snow.
On the slopes there is a cheerful and young atmosphere that really makes you feel on holiday. The apres ski is concentrated on the famous "yellow tent", an outside bar for a drink that goes on until well after the sun goes down! I can only tell you that in my experience, I went directly to sleep after a great night spent there. So guys, do not miss the occasion to spend a vacation of sport and fun at Tonale!
