Molina di Ledro, Lake Ledro, small pier with moored sailboats
The Ledro Valley in Trentino lies a few kilometres to the west of Lake Garda, and is an area of outstanding beauty that's highly favoured by campers and self-catering holidaymakers.
The central lake of the same name boasts crystal clear waters which are among the purest in the country, set in the shelter of the edges of the Alps. There are many bathing areas around the lake, most equipped with picnic areas and public conveniences, and supervised by lifeguards.
There also boat trips around the lake on offer. Walkers and cyclists can enjoy exploring the area with over 200km of paths, forest trails and old converted roads, while the open air museum devoted to the remains of a Bronze Age settlement gives a sense of how long this area has been inhabited and makes for an interesting visit.
At the end of most days in season the village of Molina di Ledro has open air concerts, shows and other events to entertain. Most of the closest hotels a few kilometres away on the northernmost shores of Lake Garda, where wellness and spa facilities are also available. All the tourist amenities of Riva del Garda are within easy reach, and you can retire to the peace of the valley to enjoy the warm evenings.
