Novara (7 Km)

Ossario della Bicocca

Inaugurated on 23 March 1879 on the occasion of the thirtieth anniversary of the Battle of Novara, the Ossuary of the Fallen, erected at the Bicocca, was at the center of numerous controversy. The construction was wanted by a citizens' committee who launched a subscription for this purpose. The realization of the project was characterized by numerous clashes. The oppositions and controversy continued over the years. Only on 23 November 1901, a white marble cross was blessed affixed to the monument. The shrine houses the remains of soldiers of both belligerent armies.

Museo di Arte Religiosa

The Museum of Religious Art takes its name from the founder priest Father Augusto Mozzetti. The priest strongly wanted to set up the same museum in 1970 in order to preserve and enhance the works of art of the Olegese territory arrived from the churches in the surroundings and that belong to the period from the 15th to the 19th century. Castello di Barengo

The construction of the castle, in bricks, does not refer to a precise date but it is thought to revolve around the fourteenth century. The castle of Barengo strikes everyone who travels there thanks also to its position, between a plain of poplars and a hill. The fortress has a trapezoid structure that is not regular and has two towers. The castle, inside, had a church, a cemetery and a well. Some entrance doors and foundations have survived today. The structure was built both for military purposes and as a residence.
