Bra: a mixture of religion, museums and gastronomy

Most people who love to travel have been to Italy at least once in their life or, at the very least, are planning on doing so. That is because Italy is, without a shadow of a doubt, one of the countries in the world which has the most to offer to its visitors.

However, many people tend to visit the most common and popular cities such as Rome and Venice, forgetting, or maybe not realizing, that there is much more to see in La Bella Italia. One of the many places people don't get to find out, sadly, is Bra.

Bra is a town in the province of Cuneo, which is located in the region of Piedmont. Despite not being particularly popular between tourists, it is a town which has a lot to offer, and I am going to tell you everything you could possibly want to know about it. As you most probably know, Italy is a highly religious country, which means you can find tons of churches and cathedrals wherever you go and, of course, that is also the case in Bra. The most popular in Bra is the San Andrea church, which was built in 1682 and which can be found in the Caduti Della Libertà Square. Inside this gorgeous baroque church you will have the chance of seeing some incredible frescoes and various statues, all of them kept in extremely good conditions. And if you love visiting churches, especially baroque ones, there are five more to be visited in Bra: the Santa Chiara church which was built in 1742, the San Giovanni, San Antonio and the Santa Maria Degli Angeli churches which are all from the 18th Century and, last but not least, the Trinità church which was built in 1624 in which you will find some more frescoes.

But if you think all you will be able to do in Bra is visiting churches, think again. There are five museums in this lovely town which are worth visiting, both by adults and by children. One of the most interesting ones is the Museum Of The Bicycles, where you will get the chance of seeing countless different bikes, many of them extremely old, all of them in great conditions. And if you are traveling with children, you can not miss out on the chance of visiting the toys museum. There you will see one of the biggest collection of toys from different eras kept in great conditions. The best thing about this museum is that adults will love it as much as children, and that is because there you will see some familiar toys you had completely forgotten about.

But the best time of the year to visit Bra, especially if you love cheese, is September. That is the month in which, every two years, the whole town is invaded by dozens of different types of cheese. The best thing about it is that, as well as getting the chance to buy some, you will be offered small bites by the exhibitors. So, if you can't wait to visit Italy for the first time or simply go back once more, keep Bra in mind and give it a chance, it won't disappoint you!

In fact, the towers are more recent, compared to the rest, which is already built from 1098. The structure is considered one of the oldest buildings in the Roero area. The “Federico Eusebio” Civic Archaeological and Natural Science Museum was founded in 1897 by Federico Eusebio, to present the historical-archaeological collection. Since 1976 it occupies the same headquarters and has been enriched with sections illustrating the natural history of the territory. The set-up made it possible to integrate with the findings of the last 25 years. Practically we can say that it presents a large picture of the prehistory of the Roman city.
