Albero del Piccioni

Albero del Piccioni is located near Ascoli Piceno. It is the tree with the largest trunk of all Marche, with a diameter of 2.4 meters and a height of 24 meters. It is part of the Monumental Trees of Italy for which the legend of the population of the area tells that the same took its name from the commander of the Pontifical Auxiliaries, Giovanni Piccioni who created the phenomenon of Anti-Unit Brigandage. The inside of the trunk of this tree served as a hiding place for the commanded Pigeons and his faithful.

Galleria d'Arte Contemporanea Osvaldo Licini

The Museum of the Ligurian Academy of Fine Arts was inaugurated in 1980 by the initiative of Gianfranco Bruno. The most substantial collection is the material found from the nineteenth century until the middle of the twentieth century, at the request of the Marquis Marcello Durazzo. Inside there are several paintings by famous artists such as Domenico Piola and Ansaldo and there are also artistic productions such as those of Rayper and Luxoro.

Torre e Palazzo dei Capitani del Popolo

Torre and Palazzo dei Capitani del Popolo dates back to the 13th century. It was built between the 13th and 14th and is located in the center of the city in Piazza del Popolo. The tower is known for an ancient style belonging to the Middle Ages. The building has architectural elements, decorative details of local art. After a few deep restorations, it was completed in 1520. The rear facade of the Palace was rebuilt in the same year by the architect and painter Nicola Filotesio.

Pinacoteca Civica

The Civic Art Gallery is located inside Palazzo del Municipio or Palazzo Arringo. It is located on the first and second floor. It was officially known in 1861 and is one of the most important in the area. It currently houses a large collection of works with a hundred paintings, sculptures, and a collection of ancient art. The collection was further enriched in 1909 with 12,000. All the furniture in the room is very nice with furniture from the period. Admission to the Art Gallery is free of charge.

Campo Squarcia

Campo Squarcia is famous for the chivalric tournament of the Quintana or Quintana carousel which is a medieval historical re-enactment with an equestrian carousel held in Ascoli Piceno. It takes place on the first Sunday of August, on the occasion of the feast of Sant'Emidio, Patron and First Bishop of the Marche city. Since 1997, a second edition of Quintana has also been held, at night, in honor of Our Lady of Peace, on the second Saturday of July. This event is renewed every year.
