Everyone knows Lake Como, but many don't know how nice it is to go upstairs in the mountains to go hiking among the cows. Or you can just start and enjoy the view from the top of the lake and on the south bank.
I have often been in the Valle d'Intelvi. If you go higher and higher in the mountains, you'll find lots of small mountain villages, almost deserted. Outside the city there are several viewpoints with the possibility of grilling. In summer, on the weekend you have to arrive early enough, if you still want to find a free bench!
Of these terraces lead paths to nearby villages and peaks.
If you don't like traveling by car in the mountains, you can start with the cable car in Pigra. Behind Argegnio you can park directly on the shore, and with the cable car, which starts every twenty minutes, you are in a few minutes in the mountain. The town is small, it has a nice church with a gorgeous terrace overlooking the lake, lots of parks and trails hiking. We see many young people in all parts, who spend their summers here. We went to the woods, and we found a large villa, which apparently is in ruins, but has a very nice location!
