Biblioteca Civica "Angelo Mai"

The library was established in 1768, initially composed of the book collection of Cardinal Alessandro Giuseppe Furietti. The collection is arranged within the sixteenth-century Palazzo Nuovo, and contains more than 730,000 pieces of documents, volumes, photos, prints and numerous written testimonies of the cultural life of the city. Over the years, the structure was expanded with new materials, thanks to the continuous donations and purchases of the library itself. Today, the library is the primary institution for the collection and preservation of Bergamo's book heritage.

Urgnano (9 Km)

Castello di Urgnano

The castle of Urgnano was built by Archbishop Giovanni, in 1354, after his brother Luchino Visconti died. Over the centuries he had several owners, finally passing, once and for all, to the municipality. The building has a quadrilateral shape with four towers at the end. To make it difficult to attack enemies, he is surrounded by the moat. It has two entrances, one to the north and the other on the other side, and is built entirely of terracotta. Inside it is divided in half, to the west there is the courtyard, to the east the roof garden.

Museo del Falegname "T. Sana"

The Carpenter Museum was inaugurated on 20 June 1987 within the company complex. Its founder was Tino Sana, who wanted to tell the story of his trade. The history of the carpenter is narrated with the shops that present the various crafts of woodworking, with vintage equipment and machinery built of wood and with lathes from 1600, 1700 and 1800. The museum also contains a rich exhibition of bicycles, such as the wooden ones of the 800-900, as well as jerseys and trophies by Felice Gimondi, a former Italian road cyclist and sports director to whom the salon.
