Italy is known for many different things, and that's one of the reasons why millions of tourists decide to spend their holidays there every year. If you are looking for a destination and you want a relaxing place which isn't too full of tourists yet has a lot to offer, you are looking for Pietra Ligure.
This town is in the province of Savona, which is located in the region of Liguria. It is the perfect place to visit especially if you are planning for your summer holidays, since most of the things you will be able to do there will be outdoors, which means you will need great weather and, as you most probably know, there's no better weather than the Italian weather.
As I'm sure you know, Italy is one of the most religious countries in the world, which means there are churches pretty much in every town you might visit. And, of course, it couldn't be any different in Pietra Ligure. If you are a big fan of visiting churches you are in luck, because there you will get the chance to visit the Basilica di San Nicolò, which was built in 1750. Inside you will be able to see some great works of art, especially paintings. And if you enjoy visiting museums, don't miss the chance to pay a visit to the museum of the tower clock. Most of the many tower clocks you will find in this museum used to be in churches, and if you decide to you will get the chance to get a guided tour of the museum which lasts about forty five minutes.
But if you are the adventurous kind and you are hoping to find something a bit more exciting and that will keep you active while on holidays, worry not because, as I said before, Pietra Ligure has a lot to offer. Why not pay a visit to the Valdemino cave? This was discovered in 1933 and a touristic route was opened in 1970 to give the chance to everyone of visiting this gorgeous cave. Since after such long days out you will most probably end up tired, why not just go for a walk around the center of the town? You will come across many different restaurants where you will be able to sit down, relax and try out some of the best Italian dishes which will allow you to discover and understand why Italian cuisine is as popular and as loved as it is.
And if you want to relax some more, why not just go to the beach? That's right, in Pietra Ligure you will also have the chance of going to the beach, lay and on fine sands, sunbathe and, of course, go for a little swim. Most beaches in Italy are private, which means you have to pay a little fee, and that is the case with the beach in Pietra Ligure. However, worry not, by paying just a couple of euros you will be able to spend the whole day on the beach and use the umbrella and beachchair you will be provided at the entrance.
